What is a Postpartum Doula?
Postpartum Doulas work with moms, babies, and families to provide emotional support and assistance with newborn care and everyday tasks during the first few months after a baby is born.
This can look like:
- Looking after baby while parents eat, sleep, and shower
- Cooking/meal prep
- Shopping
- Tidying up
- Dishes/laundry
- Assistance with feeding
- Advocating for parents and baby with family members and healthcare professionals
- Overnight baby care
Doulas are not:
- Nannies for other children
- Chauffeurs
- Medical professionals
- Housekeepers/cleaners
