What is a Postpartum Doula?

Postpartum Doulas work with moms, babies, and families to provide emotional support and assistance with newborn care and everyday tasks during the first few months after a baby is born.

This can look like:

  • Looking after baby while parents eat, sleep, and shower
  • Cooking/meal prep
  • Shopping
  • Tidying up
  • Dishes/laundry
  • Assistance with feeding
  • Advocating for parents and baby with family members and healthcare professionals
  • Overnight baby care

Doulas are not:

  • Nannies for other children
  • Chauffeurs
  • Medical professionals
  • Housekeepers/cleaners
